The Canadian Journalism Foundation Excellence in Journalism Award Deadline is Approaching - March 14, 2008

TORONTO, Feb. 22 /CNW/ - The Canadian Journalism Foundation (CJF) invites
media organizations from across the country to apply for its Annual Excellence
in Journalism Award.
Since 1996, the Canadian Journalism Foundation has singled out media
organizations that embrace ideals of journalistic excellence - accuracy,
independence, accountability, courage, originality, among others - with its
annual Excellence in Journalism Award. Winners in two categories will be
selected: 1) small/medium or local/regional media, and 2) large or national
media.
If your story deserves to be told, only you can tell it. Entrants are
asked to submit a written description explaining in 1,000 words or less how
the organization ensures journalistic excellence and why it merits this award.
The winner will be announced at the CJF Eleventh Annual Awards Gala to be held
this year at The Fairmont Royal York Hotel on May 28, 2008.

Submissions are assessed against seven different criteria by a jury of
journalists, media educators and opinion leaders chaired by Donna Logan. Past
recipients include:
2007 The Hamilton Spectator (large media)
           The Guelph Mercury (small media)
    2006 The Globe and Mail
    2005 The Hamilton Spectator
    2004 CBC News
    2003 The Record, Kitchener, ON
    2002 CTV News

The deadline for submissions is March 14, 2008.
