TORONTO, Feb. 9 /CNW/ - The Canadian Journalism Foundation (CJF) invites
media organizations from across the country to apply for its Annual Excellence
in Journalism Award.
Since 1996, the Canadian Journalism Foundation has singled out media
organizations that embrace ideals of journalistic excellence - accuracy,
independence, accountability, courage, originality, among others - with its
annual Excellence in Journalism Award. Winners in two categories will be
selected: 1) small/medium or local/regional media, and 2) large or national
If your story deserves to be told, only you can tell it. Entrants are
asked to submit a written description explaining in 1,000 words or less how
the organization ensures journalistic excellence and why it merits this award.
The winner will be announced at the CJF 12th Annual Awards Gala to be held
this year at The Fairmont Royal York Hotel on June 9, 2009.
Submissions are assessed against seven different criteria by a jury. The
2009 jury members are: Michael Benedict (chair), Peter Desbarats, Linda
Hughes, Dr. Frederic Jackman, Kim Kierans, Jean-Luc Mongrain, Florian
Sauvageau and Pamela Wallin. Past recipients of the award include:
