The UK based, internationally operating company is famous in the European
and Middle Eastern security markets, primarily for its innovative and
unconventional security methods. These have included using ex-Ghurka soldiers
to guard the stores of furniture retailer IKEA - to training dogs to prevent
cross border alcohol and drug smuggling in Middle Eastern countries.
Octavian Security is about to secure its first contracts in the city,
which are expected to be in the construction and logistics sectors.
Octavian's worldwide client base includes Prologis, DHL, Aramex, The BBC,
Sky TV, The Ryder Cup and some sections of the British Government, and it is
hoping to secure some of Canada's most significant organisations once word of
its unique working practices begins to spread.
The company is currently the UK market leader in outside broadcast
security and a pioneer in retail, logistics, distribution and warehousing, and
the professional and financial services markets. It is renowned in the UK for
its efforts to change the face of the security market, seeking to instil
levels of professionalism, discipline and officer development previously
unseen in the UK market.
"A presence in Canada has always been an ambition of mine for Octavian
Security, and I have been watching the market there for some time," explains
Octavian Group managing director, Sukhi Ghuman.
"Vancouver is not a destination known for obtuse crime levels, but like
the rest of modern society, business' security provisions are having to
develop one step ahead of modern life and also meet the specified security
requirements of increasingly demanding insurers."
With its Vancouver office now launched, Octavian Security Inc will be
starting a recruitment campaign in the city for security officers, with an
expected fifty initial vacancies for registered officers to soon be announced.
