The American Society of Association Executives convenes in Toronto bringing an estimated $7 million in revenue for the city

TORONTO, Aug. 12 /CNW/ - The long-awaited "Super Bowl of Conventions,"
ASAE & The Center's 2009 Annual Meeting & Exposition, convenes in Toronto,
August 15-18, bringing an estimated $7 million in revenue for the city. More
than 4,300 association executives and industry partners will arrive in Toronto
this week to revive their association industry knowledge, network with
colleagues and explore Toronto as a future event destination for their
organizations. Twenty percent of association executives who attend ASAE & The
Center's Annual Meeting will book a meeting in the host city in the five years
following the convention, bringing additional revenue in the years to come.
Associations dominate the $102 billion meetings industry, spending more
than $60 billion annually to hold conventions and other meetings in
destinations throughout Canada and the United States. Associations represent a
wide range of collective interests including professional industries,
businesses and philanthropic causes. The work of associations is woven
throughout the fabric of society and its citizens. Because of their important
position, the business sector and governments depend on the social and
economic benefits of the association community.
