The Alberta Emerald Foundation Announces 2007 Emerald Award Recipients



    CALGARY, June 6 /CNW/ - The Alberta Emerald Foundation is pleased to
announce the recipients for the 2007 Emerald Awards for environmental
excellence, presented tonight at the EPCOR Centre for the Performing Arts in
Calgary.
    Hundreds gathered to celebrate and showcase the commitment of finalists
and recipients alike, recognizing their outstanding commitment and dedication
to environmental excellence in Alberta.
    A panel of knowledgeable judges chose the 12 recipients from a total of
106 nominations. Decisions were based on:

    
    -   commitment to preservation, protection, enhancement or sustainability
        of the environment and the positive, tangible and long-term impact on
        the quality of the air, water or land;
    -   preservation of biological diversity;
    -   climate change/greenhouse gases; and
    -   public or corporate attitudes toward the environment.
