TELUS clients can text votes, enter contests, download exclusive music
VANCOUVER, June 28 /CNW/ - TELUS and MyThum are making it easy for TELUS
clients to vote for their favourite Canadian Idol competitor on their mobile
phones using text messaging following broadcasts on CTV. TELUS will also give
away weekly prizes to fans who vote on their TELUS mobile phones, with one
lucky winner receiving the grand prize $10,000 trip to meet this year's
Canadian Idol winner.
Through TELUS' relationship with CTV's Canadian Idol, its clients also
have access to exclusive Idol music downloads with TELUS Mobile Music.
TELUS mobile clients can text the word VOTE during the two hour voting
window at the end of each show, which started with the first CTV broadcast
this week. As the exclusive wireless sponsor of Canadian Idol, only TELUS
enables its clients to vote using text messaging. MyThum supports this TELUS
service by administering the text votes for Canadian Idol 2007.
"Our partnership with MyThum enables TELUS clients to vote for their
Canadian Idol competitor easily with text messaging on their mobile phones,"
said Rizwan Jamal, TELUS senior vice-president of Marketing. "With SPARK
enabled mobile phones, TELUS offers an innovative line-up of products and
services to ensure our clients are receiving the latest sources of information
and entertainment. TELUS is a proud sponsor of CTV's Canadian Idol, which
helps showcase the talent of young Canadians."
TELUS clients who vote for their favourite Idol competitor using text
messages can win weekly draws for a Samsung handset (approximate retail value
of $300). Each text vote also enters participants into the grand prize draw
for an all-expense-paid trip to meet the 2007 Canadian Idol. The grand prize
winner will receive a trip for six to Toronto, a three night stay at a premium
hotel, $5,000 in spending money and a VIP hangout with the new Idol
(approximate retail value of $10,000). Full contest rules are available at
telusmobility.com/idol. (voting windows will vary based on time zone and a
text messaging fee of $0.25 applies for every SMS message. Go to CTV.ca to
check local broadcast times).
"We are proud to be partnered with TELUS on this exciting initiative for
the second year in a row", said Michael Carter, president and CEO of MyThum
Interactive Inc. "The integration of interactive mobile solutions with one of
Canada's premier broadcast properties is a testament to the fact that the
mobile channel has truly become an integral element to the media mix."
Fans can 'Idolize' their phones by downloading original full track songs
performed by competitors using TELUS Mobile Music, part of the SPARK service
line-up. Through SPARK, fans also have the ability to download ringtones and
videos of competitors' weekly performances, bringing exclusive Idol content to
their mobile phones.
Exclusive downloads and SMS voting are only available with TELUS SPARK
line-up, which puts the world of mobile entertainment, information and
messaging services right in the palm of clients' hands. SPARK services
include: TELUS Mobile Music full-track music download service, multimedia
messaging, downloadable images, ringtones, video and games, and new Web
