27 critters of all shapes and sizes are in the running as Canadians are
asked to vote for the next TELUS critter through Facebook
TORONTO, May 10 /CNW/ - Canadians have always enjoyed the lovable animal
stars that TELUS has featured in its advertising. Starting today, TELUS
is giving them a voice in helping to select the next TELUS critter, to
be featured in a dynamic new mobility advertising campaign.
Through an original application launching today on Facebook, Canadians
will be given the chance to vote for their favourite campaign star
critter, even if they don't have a Facebook account. There will be 27
different critters to choose from, including some old favourites, such
as the classic monkeys and hippos, and some exotic newcomers, such as
the lion-tailed macaque and the red panda. The winning candidate will
be featured in a national campaign, launching later this year. In
addition, TELUS will give $1 to the Nature Conservancy of Canada (NCC)
for each vote submitted in the campaign.
"We're thrilled to be giving a voice to Canadians in helping us choose
the next TELUS critter," says David Fuller, Chief Marketing Officer at
TELUS. "Canadians are passionate about our brand and especially our
campaign animal stars. Listening to our customers is the foundation of
what we do in all spheres of our business so it only makes sense to
give a voice to the fans of our Future Friendly brand."
Participants will get to place one vote per day in each of three
different categories: Small Wonders (including the marmoset, koala and
other cuddly cuties), Big Awesomes (including the camel, grizzly bear
and other rough-and-tumble beasts) and Cool Classics (including the
familiar chameleon, duck and other favourites from past TELUS
campaigns). The first round of voting will last for two weeks, at which
time three category finalists will be announced and move on to a second
round of voting.
The critter that receives the most votes in this second round will be
named the next TELUS critter and will be featured in TELUS' widespread
print, broadcast and online mobility advertising this Fall. The fur is
sure to fly, so TELUS is encouraging Canadians to vote early and often
in this exciting new campaign.
As an extra bonus for becoming part of TELUS' extended creative team,
all voters will be entered into a draw to win some amazing prizing,
including a grand prize of a trip for two to Africa for the ultimate
animal lover's vacation. The trip will feature a safari at the Kruger
National Park, a visit to the Chimpanzee Sanctuary on Lake Victoria and
other once-in-a-lifetime activities.
