TELUS extends location based services to help clients in Quebec find destinations and family



    TELUS Navigator and TELUS Kid Find provide peace of mind in the palm of
    clients' hands

    MONTREAL, June 6 /CNW/ - TELUS clients in more than 40 Quebec
communities, including Gatineau, the Greater Montreal area, Sherbrooke, the
Greater Quebec City area, Saint-Georges, Rimouski, Baie-Comeau and Sept-îles
can now access Navigator and Kid Find, two easy-to-use GPS services that help
increase peace of mind and security by assisting users to navigate to
destinations or locate family members in real-time using interactive mobile
phone based maps.

    Navigator and Kid Find now operate throughout TELUS' 1X Digital PCS
coverage area in Gatineau, Montreal area, Laval, Saint-Jérôme, Joliette,
Valleyfield, Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu, Saint-Hyacinthe, Sherbrooke, Magog, the
Greater Quebec City area, Montmagny, Sainte-Marie, Saint-Georges,
Baie-Saint-Paul, La Malbaie, Rimouski, Matane, Baie-Comeau, Sept-Iles, Percé,
Ottawa, Kingston, southern Ontario including Barrie, Kitchener-Waterloo,
Windsor, London, the Golden Horseshoe region, Newmarket, Halifax, Winnipeg, as
well as in the provinces of British Columbia and Alberta.
    These services leverage the accuracy of traditional GPS technology with
TELUS' network based location technology to provide reliable location fixes in
a wide variety of surroundings, including indoor and outdoor environments.

    TELUS Navigator

    Leave the map at home with TELUS Navigator. This handset based service
provides real-time audio and visual turn-by-turn directions similar to in-car
navigation systems. Navigator allows clients to use their handset to plan
their route ahead, search for destinations from over 1.5 million points of
interest and get results according to their preferred mode of travel and
route. If they miss their turn, the service will automatically re-route to
ensure they get back on track.
    With Navigator's local search function, clients can easily locate
businesses in their area, without having to type in a starting address. Users
can click through a menu for business categories of interest, and the service
will determine the user's current location and deliver results listed by
distance and name. Then, with the push of a single key, users can get
directions to the destination or call the business.
    TELUS Navigator is available to clients for $10 per month plus a one-time
$0.50 download fee and operates on select phones including the BlackBerry
8703e. Added today to the line-up of devices supporting the service, the
BlackBerry 8703e is the first BlackBerry from TELUS to support Navigator.
TELUS Navigator can be activated by visiting mytelusmobility.com or an
authorized TELUS retail location. For a limited time, clients who would like
to test TELUS Navigator will receive a two week trial without subscription.

    TELUS Kid Find

    Users concerned about their family members' safety can now locate them
with Kid Find, which allows clients to identify the location of users on their
account in real-time on an interactive map through their TELUS mobile phone or
mytelusmobility.com. Streets are regularly updated on the interactive maps and
allow users to zoom in and out to see their family members' location relative
to landmarks.
    Kid Find protects users' privacy with secure pass codes and mandatory
permission requirements that put the client in control of privacy. Only
clients who are payment responsible for the account or have been given
permission to manage the account can access location information.
    Individuals being located will be notified by a flashing GPS indicator on
their mobile phone's screen each time a location request is sent to their
phone. Additionally, when Kid Find has been activated by the account holder, a
one-time notification will be sent to the handset to be tracked. Kid Find can
be temporarily deactivated by shutting the handset off or disabling the GPS
status.
    Kid Find is now available to users with select TELUS mobile phones for $5
per month for unlimited usage, plus a one-time $0.50 download fee. As an
introductory trial without a subscription, clients can download Kid Find to
their handset and receive five free user lookups, or perform them through
mytelusmobility.com at no charge. To determine phone compatibility and

location.
