TELUS announces five-year contract with Best Buy: Next generation IP network the foundation of premier shopping experience for Canadians



    IP lets Best Buy deliver a retail experience that puts them ahead of the
    competition

    TORONTO, Jan. 30 /CNW/ - TELUS today announced that it has signed a
five-year, multi-million dollar contract with Best Buy Canada Ltd., one of the
country's fastest growing entertainment and technology retailers, to connect
all of its stores across Canada with a private IP network. Specific financial
terms of the deal were not disclosed.

    TELUS' IP network will carry voice, video and data over a single network
infrastructure, allowing Best Buy to reduce costs. At the same time, Best Buy
is enhancing its communication capabilities, meeting customer demands through
advanced applications designed to improve efficiencies, supporting sales staff
and delivering a unique shopping experience to Canadians.
    The TELUS IP solution is fully compatible with Best Buy Canada's existing
network, reducing implementation risks and enabling new productivity-enhancing
applications like a new point- of-sale system, video conferencing, multimedia,
gaming, and music.
