TELUS 2007 annual report ranked amongst best in the world

TELUS receives A+ rating, ranking No. 3

VANCOUVER, Sept. 9 /CNW/ - For the fifth consecutive year, TELUS has been
recognized for having produced one the finest annual reports in the world,
according to a global survey of annual reports. The Annual Report on Annual
Reports 2008 gave TELUS a rating of A+ and ranked it the third best in the
world across all industries. Just 25 Canadian companies made the top 500.
"At a time when investor expectations around governance as well as
financial and corporate social responsibility reporting have never been
greater, it is truly an honour to be recognized globally in the 2008 Annual
Report on Annual Reports," said Robert McFarlane, TELUS executive
vice-president and chief financial officer. "At TELUS, we are firmly committed
to full and fair financial disclosure and best practices in corporate
governance, so to receive formal acknowledgment of our team's efforts is truly
gratifying."
TELUS 2007 annual report was cited for its "many superior features of an
extraordinarily clear financial analysis." TELUS' report was singled out as a
top pick for five key areas of reporting - key figures, financial review,
financial clarity, goals and targets and multiple book management. The last
point refers to the fact that TELUS presents the information in its report in
three separate books - a briefer business review focused on overall corporate
developments, a more exhaustive financial review went into more details and
analysis of TELUS' performance, and a corporate social responsibility report.
The 2007 user friendly annual and corporate social responsibility reports
are available at telus.com.
Enterprise.com, which produces the Annual Report on Annual Reports, is
the only organization in the world that compares, rates and ranks annual
reports globally. An independent panel evaluates 500 annual reports
shortlisted from an even wider selection of publicly listed corporations. The
survey is regarded as the most comprehensive and authoritative. It looks at 50
key report items, including financial, performance, business and investor
measures.
