Telstra Corporation Limited applies to be released from securities law reporting obligations in Canada

MELBOURNE, Australia, Aug. 1 /CNW/ - Telstra Corporation Limited today
announced that it had filed an application with securities commissions across
Canada to be released from its obligations as a reporting issuer under
Canadian securities legislation.
If released from its obligations as a reporting issuer under Canadian
securities legislation, Telstra will not be required to file financial
statements and other disclosure material with the securities commissions in
Canada. However, holders of Telstra securities resident in Canada will
continue to receive copies of disclosure documents that are required to be
delivered to securityholders in Australia. This will be done in the same
manner and at the same time as is required under the Australian Corporations
Act 2001 and the rules of the Australian Stock Exchange. Such documents will
also be available to securityholders in the "investor centre" section of
Telstra's website (www.telstra.com).
