MONTREAL, March 1 /CNW Telbec/ - AQTIS members in a general meeting today
gave their consent to the agreement concluded between the AQTIS and the IATSE.
The main components of this agreement meet the objectives outlined by
AQTIS representatives at the outset: reassure American producers, protect
AQTIS collective agreements for Quebec productions and pursue the work of the
emergency committee in order to find a long-term solution to the situation.
This agreement will re-establish a much more reassuring labor relations
climate for American producers, thus having a positive impact on the number of
jobs available for technicians. Representatives of both unions will thus
pursue their search for a long-term solution with the assistance of the
committee set up by Minister Line Beauchamp, Minister of Culture and
Communications, in a much more favorable context.
The AQTIS, which regroups more than 2,500 members, would take this
opportunity to thank Minister Line Beauchamp for her initiative. The Minister
will continue to lend her full support with the aim of arriving at a long-term
agreement through the good offices of the working committee presided by
Mr. Gilles Charland.
AQTIS, whose origin dates back to 1969, represents more than
2,900 artists and technicians, who work in more than a hundred different
trades and professions the areas of set design, make-up, hairstyling, camera,
sound, editing, studio control rooms, production assistance, postproduction,
technical effects and support, TV control rooms and TV production.
