Team CIBC encourages Canadians to Think Pink and sign up for the CBCF CIBC Run for the Cure

TORONTO, Sept. 12 /CNW/ - CIBC (CM: TSX; NYSE) - CIBC employees across
Canada are proudly wearing pink today to show their passion for creating a
future without breast cancer. Today's celebration in Commerce Court is part of
a nation-wide "Think Pink" week from September 10 to 14 to raise awareness of
breast cancer and encourage people to register for the Canadian Breast Cancer
Foundation CIBC Run for the Cure on September 30.
The focus today was on leading a healthy and active lifestyle as a
preventative step towards reducing the risk of developing breast cancer, a
disease that affects not only those diagnosed with it, but friends, family and
the community at large.
An inspiring speech was given by Silvana Henneman, a 12-year breast
cancer survivor and Assistant Branch Manager of the Stone Road Branch in
Guelph. Attendees also enjoyed healthy gourmet food, as well as prizes and
giveaways from several sponsors. Guests were encouraged to sign up for the
Run, Canada's largest single-day fundraiser for breast cancer. Lending their
support to the Toronto event were Gerry McCaughey, CIBC President and Chief
Executive Officer, and Sonia Baxendale, CIBC Senior Executive Vice President
of Retail Markets, as well as the volunteer CIBC run champions.
"CIBC is committed to supporting breast cancer research, education and
awareness," says Sonia Baxendale, "I am very proud of the thousands of CIBC
employees who join in the ranks of their fellow Canadians in more than 50
communities from coast-to-coast, as they participate in one of the most
successful fundraising events of the year."
Other national sponsors at the Toronto event included Ford of Canada,
Running Room Canada Inc., McCain Foods (Canada) Ltd., and New Balance.
