- Survey to mark TD Canada Trust's longer hours and the hour most
Canadians gain this weekend, shows that if Prairie residents were
given an extra hour, sleep would be their number one choice, followed
- Starting today, Manitoba branches now open on average 8 more hours a
week and Saskatchewan 11 more hours; TD Canada Trust now open on
average 50% longer than the other banks
- National branch giveaways include gas cards, free coffee and paper,

branches across Canada
WINNIPEG, Nov. 1 /CNW/ - Today is the day that TD Canada Trust branches
across the Prairies switch over to extended hours of operation. On average,
Manitoba branches will be open 8 more hours a week; Saskatchewan, 11 more
hours. Under the banner "open 8 'til late - six days straight" the bank that
already had the longest hours in Canada is now open for business even longer -
the equivalent of opening 190 new branches across the country.
To help celebrate the launch of its new, even longer hours, as well as
the extra hour most of us get from the switch to Standard Time this weekend,
TD Canada Trust commissioned Ipsos Reid to ask Canadians what they'd do with
an extra hour in the day.
For Prairie residents, the winner is sleep. Their next choice would be
The top two choices track perfectly with most Canadians. The percentage
of Manitoba and Saskatchewan poll respondents who choose sleep, 23%, is the
same as the national average, as is the percentage choosing reading (20%).
With their third choice, spending an extra hour with family or children,
Prairie residents lead all regions and are well ahead of the national average
(18% versus 11%). 16% of Prairie residents would take the hour to rest or
relax and 11% would choose schoolwork, volunteer activities or housework.
The telephone survey was conducted among 1001 randomly selected Canadians
between Sept 16th and September 18th, 2007. Overall results are accurate to
+/-3.10 percentage points, nineteen times out of twenty.
"However Prairies residents like to spend their time, we know worrying
about banking isn't high on the list. Having more hours to choose from means
customers can choose a time that's convenient for them. That's what we mean
when we say TD Canada Trust has people hours, not banker's hours," said Tim

The launch of new hours at TD Canada Trust is being supported by a major
advertising campaign on television, in major dailies, and on billboards across
Canada. In-branch promotions will include the following customer giveaways:
- On November 3rd, $10 PetroCanada gas cards will be handed out to the
first 25 customers
- The week of November 5th, the first 40 customers will get a coupon
for Tim Horton's and a newspaper.
- The week of November 12th, the first 25 customers will receive a $10
Indigo/Chapters gift card and/or a reusable shopping bag.
- The week of November 19th, during the first hour open, everyone will
get the chance to win a flat screen television - one per branch.
