Symposium - Spotlight on the safety of everyday consumer products: raising awareness and taking action



    MONTREAL, Nov. 9 /CNW Telbec/ - The repeated use of some consumer
chemical products may pose a long-term risk for our health and the environment
which is a growing concern for consumers.
    In order to address these concerns, Option consommateurs, Breast Cancer
Action Montreal, and the McGill Centre for Research and Teaching on Women have
organized a bilingual symposium on the safety of everyday consumer products to
be held on Saturday, November 10th, 2007.
    Lectures on the topic will be given from a wide range of perspectives
including regulatory, legal, academic, industry and civil with particular
attention to the use of warning labels. The focus of the symposium will be on
household chemicals and cosmetics. Among others, the speakers will be:

    During the symposium, experts and consumers will have the opportunity to
express their concerns and focus on the promotion of safe production and use
of consumer products.
    The symposium will be held on Saturday, November 10th, 2007, from 9am to
4pm at McGill University's Thompson House, 3650 McTavish Street, Montreal,
Quebec.
