CALGARY, Sept. 25 /CNW Telbec/ - For the second year, Sustainable Energy
Technologies has won the prestigious Deloitte Technology Green 15 Award, which
showcases Canadian companies that are leading the way in creating major
breakthroughs in the field of green technology.
"Companies such as Sustainable Energy are creating technology solutions
that have both a significant environmental impact and demonstrate a compelling
return on investment. In doing so, they are helping position Canada as a
global leader in the development of commercially viable green technology,"
said John Ruffolo, National Leader, Technology, Media & Telecommunications
Industry Group, Deloitte.
Sustainable President and CEO Michael Carten credits the company's
persistence, its ability to adjust and redefine its business as market
conditions changed, and a relentless focus on having the lowest manufactured
cost/watt in the industry as the keys to its early success.
"On the other hand, luck also plays a big part," said Carten. "The
emergence of thin film solar technologies as a disruptive force in the solar
power industry has created opportunities for Sustainable that are bigger than
we could ever have imagined even a few months ago."
"We are proud to be a Canadian company offering Canadian solutions for
climate change problems around the world," added Carten. "We believe that our
patented technologies and products will help to quickly bring the cost of
solar power down to the point where it is competitive with other energy
sources. We're pleased Deloitte has recognized our innovative technology
solutions once again this year."
About the Deloitte Technology Green 15 - The Technology Green 15
recognizes Canada's leading GreenTech companies. GreenTech, the industry term
for "green technologies", is taking on greater importance in the world in
general, and the world of business in particular. It includes any technology
that promotes a more efficient use and re-use of the earth's resources in
industrial production and consumption.
GreenTech products and services are designed to reduce or eliminate
environmental impacts and improve operational performance, productivity, or
efficiency while reducing costs, inputs, energy consumption, waste, or
pollution. Although many companies within GreenTech industry sectors are very
different, they share a common trait: all use new, innovative technology to
create products and services that compete with existing products and services
on price and performance while reducing impact on the environment.
