Ontario Tire Stewardship announces new sponsorship with Earth Rangers
TORONTO, Nov. 17, 2011 /CNW/ - Ontario Tire Stewardship (OTS) today announced its sponsorship of the Earth Rangers Centre for Sustainable Technology. Earth Rangers is an award winning charitable organization dedicated to educating
children and their families about the importance of protecting
biodiversity and adopting more sustainable behaviors. With their
commitment of $10,000 as a Building Partner Sponsor, OTS will work
collaboratively with the staff at Earth Rangers to raise the profile of
recycled tire products along with their contribution to building
performance and the environment.
"OTS continues to contribute significantly to Ontario's overall
sustainability through tire recycling and educational programs. We are
thrilled with the sponsorship and to have an affiliation to this
forward-thinking organization," said Peter Kendall, Executive Director
and co-CEO of Earth Rangers.
As part of the year-long sponsorship agreement Earth Rangers will
highlight OTS, and the products made from recycled tires, in tours and educational programs. The
agreement also exposes OTS through a wide variety of
sustainability-focused events that are hosted onsite at the Centre. To complement the virtual technology screens located throughout the
facility, OTS recently installed a hands-on display of tire-derived
products such as tiles, mulch and roof shingles.
Executive Director of Ontario Tire Stewardship Andrew Horsman says, "It
is exciting to partner with Earth Rangers as they are considered
leaders in advancing green building practices. They understand that
incorporating recycled-content building materials reduces waste, and
helps eliminate pollution. It also creates markets for the collected
materials that are used to manufacture new products, which creates jobs
and strengthens the economy."
"Working with Earth Rangers provides a technology showcase to highlight
the great tire derived products that are being manufactured here in
Ontario, as well as educate Ontarians on the importance of a
sustainable lifestyle. We know that this is the start of a great

About Ontario Tire Stewardship
Established in 2009, Ontario Tire Stewardship (OTS) is an Industry
Funding Organization (IFO) incorporated under Ontario's Waste Diversion
Act, to implement and operate the Used Tires Program.
The program recycles and reuses the 12 million tires sold annually in
the province, preventing them from ending up in landfills or being
dumped illegally. Instead, OTS directs these scrap tires to recyclers
who use them to make new green products for your home, office, local
school and park.
Beyond recycling, OTS also educates and encourages Ontarians on the use
of tire derived products - items made from used tires that actually
last longer and work better than similar products in the market, and
educates Ontario drivers on how to get the most life and performance
from their tires.
