Superior-Greenstone Public Elementary Teachers Ratify Agreement

TORONTO, April 23 /CNW/ - Elementary public teachers, members of the
Superior-Greenstone Elementary Teacher Local of the Elementary Teachers'
Federation of Ontario (ETFO), approved a new four-year collective agreement
yesterday evening.
The ratification vote took place over the last three days, during
meetings with members in Terrace Bay, Marathon, Red Rock, Beardmore, and
Geraldton.
"This is a good agreement. It provides better compensation, improved
working conditions and benefits, and greater respect for the teaching skills
of my members. We're set for another four years," said ETFO President David
Clegg.
"The Superior-Greenstone District School Board has shown that even very
small boards can afford to negotiate fair and reasonable settlements." Clegg
said.
"I'm pleased with the outcome of the negotiations. Our members told us
what was important to them, and our negotiation team delivered," said Colleen
Lemieux, President of the ETFO Superior-Greenstone Elementary Teacher Local.
The Local represents approximately 70 teachers. Their last contract
expired August 31, 2008.

The Elementary Teachers' Federation of Ontario represents 73,000
elementary public school teachers and education workers across the province
and is the largest teacher federation in Canada.
