Superior-Greenstone Elementary Teachers Have Tentative Deal

TORONTO, April 19 /CNW/ - Elementary public school teachers, members of
the Superior-Greenstone Teacher Local of the Elementary Teachers' Federation
of Ontario (ETFO), reached a tentative agreement with the Superior-Greenstone
District School Board yesterday evening.
"It's a good agreement. At the end of the day, the board recognized that
if you treat our members as professionals, the winners will be the elementary
students in Superior-Greenstone," said ETFO President David Clegg.
"This tentative agreement means our members will get the working
conditions they deserve and students will get improved learning conditions,"
said Clegg.
"My negotiating team has come up with a solid agreement. They
successfully addressed a number of issues our members said were very important
to them. The next team will have a solid foundation on which to move forward,"
said Colleen Lemieux, President of the ETFO Superior-Greenstone Elementary
Teacher Local.
Details of the agreement will be available following a ratification vote
later this month.
The Superior-Greenstone Local represents approximately 70 teachers. Their
contract expired August 31, 2008.

The Elementary Teachers' Federation of Ontario represents 73,000
elementary public school teachers and education workers across the province
and is the largest teacher federation in Canada.
