Summit Expands Canadian Services with Vancouver and Toronto Data Centres

Service Bureau Offering Ensures System Reliability and Uninterrupted
Operations for Clients

BURNABY, BRITISH COLUMBIA, November 23 /CNW/ - As part of its continuing
investment and long-term commitment to Canadian credit unions, Summit
Information Systems, a business unit of Fiserv, Inc. (NASDAQ: FISV), announced
today that Summit Financial Technologies Canada has established a data centre
in Vancouver, BC, and is negotiating for a second data centre to be located in
Toronto by year's end. The data centres are part of Summit's growing
infrastructure to support service bureau and resource management delivery of
iSpectrum, the only banking system built with 21st century Internet standards
exclusively for Canadian credit unions. The technology and design of iSpectrum
offers a level of performance, flexible functionality and efficiency
previously unavailable to Canadian credit unions using service bureau delivery
for their core processing.

With redundant hardware, the Summit Vancouver data centre has no single
point of failure for supporting 24/7 operations and can offer Summit service
bureau clients maximum system availability. The data centre is co-located with
Bell Canada and taps directly into the main Internet pipeline for Western
Canada, delivering the fastest, most reliable service available. Fiber optic
connectivity ensures unparalleled speed, immunity to electrical interference,
and increased data security. The Toronto data centre will function as the
real-time backup and recovery facility for all Summit service bureau and
resource management clients. By locating data centres in different geographic
regions, the Summit service bureau infrastructure provides additional system
redundancy and uninterrupted service.

Summit recently opened its full service operations centre in Burnaby, BC
to run the two data centres and support Summit clients with in-house training,
consulting, installations, product development, and delivery of many
best-of-breed solutions from Fiserv business units.

"These data centres expand the range of personalized services Summit
provides for Canadian credit unions. Summit clients have the latest
technology, fastest data recovery and most reliable online banking system
service in Canada," said Clive Raher, director of the Summit Burnaby operation
centre. "Once fully deployed, the iSpectrum system will be continuously backed
up to the Toronto data centre. In the event of a disaster, the credit union
can use the browser interface to point to a different URL, and their data is
available in seconds. There are no tapes to retrieve or reload. There is
simply no legacy in the iSpectrum system."

"Our Vancouver data centre has the latest, most advanced technology in
place. Our entire way of operating and service delivery is all new," said
Kevin Sparks, president of Summit. "Credit unions know their data is safe and
always available. Between the security features of iSpectrum and the unmatched
reliability of the data centre, credit unions can focus less on data security
and more on meeting their members' financial needs."
