Students Continue Sit-in at York University for No-Sweatshop Policy

York President Refuses to Even Talk with Students

TORONTO, March 7 /CNW/ - The sit-in that began in front of the York
University president's office yesterday continued overnight with 14 students
camped out in the hallway.
This morning, York University President Mamdouh Shoukri refused to even
talk with students indicating that he would only send a letter instead.
Students are sitting-in to secure a no-sweatshop policy for all York
University apparel and to protest York University's 3-years of stalling on the
matter. Following student protest, both of the other universities in Toronto
have adopted policies that take reasonable steps to prevent university apparel
from being made in sweatshop conditions.
Students are available all day to provide comments and photo
opportunities.
