CALGARY, Sept. 25 /CNW/ - Stratabound Minerals Corp. (TSX.V:SB) is
pleased to release results of the latest six holes drilled on its 100%-owned
Captain copper-cobalt property near Bathurst, New Brunswick.
A series of 25 holes totaling 5,098 metres was completed with the
intention of delineating a potential copper-cobalt resource at open-pit depth.
The program has been successful in outlining potentially economic-grade
mineralization at possible open-pit and underground mining depths.
An independent mineral resource estimate is in preparation, which will be
compliant with both Canadian Institute of Mining, Metallurgy and Petroleum
Standards on Mineral Resources and Reserves Definitions and Guidelines (the
CIMM Standards) and reporting requirements of National Instrument 43-101.
The New Brunswick Research and Productivity Council (RPC) is currently
carrying out preliminary metallurgical investigations on the Captain deposit
to assess methods for recovering payable metal concentrates.
The Company is planning to resume an exploratory deep-drilling program on
Captain following freeze-up.
Results from the first 19 holes were reported previously and are
available on the company's website, www.stratabound.com., and summarized
information pertaining to the six holes reported in this news release are
presented in tables below. Values below 0.25% copper, 0.1 g/t gold, 8.0 g/t
silver, 0.01% cobalt, 0.01% bismuth are not shown.
Hole 20 was drilled vertically, 25 metres west of Hole 19, which
previously returned 6.5 metres of mineralization grading 5.3% copper, 0.063%
cobalt, 0.058% bismuth, 0.80 g/t gold and 30.0 g/t silver within 140.5 metres
of 0.6% copper and 0.028% cobalt. Hole 20 is the deepest and most westerly in
a line of six holes drilled along Section 90N that intersect the
mineralization at successively deeper levels (see updated "Captain Cross
Section" at www.stratabound.com). Like the previous holes along this section,
Hole 20 encountered significant widths and grades of mineralization, and like
Hole 15, situated 30 metres to the north, it indicates potential for
continuation of mineralization at potentially economic grades to depth below
the current level tested by drilling.
Hole 21 was located 25 metres north of Hole 19, on Section 120N, and
intersected a 4.5 metre interval containing 4.31% copper, 0.059% cobalt, 0.11%
bismuth, 0.70 g/t gold, and 23.68 g/t silver, within 38.5 metres grading 1.18%
copper and 0.033% cobalt. Immediately beneath this mineralization, cobalt is
disseminated through an additional 60.5 metres of footwall rocks at an average
grade of 0.053% (1.06 lb/ton or 0.53 kg/tonne).
Boasting the deepest and most westerly intersection to date, Hole 22 was
drilled vertically, 45 metres west-southwest of Hole 19. Hole 22 intersected
20 metres grading 1.02% copper and 0.044% cobalt, within an 81.5 metre
interval of 0.38% copper and 0.028 cobalt. Like Holes 15 and 20, results for
Hole 22 indicate that mineralization at potentially economic grades continues
to depth below the current level tested by drilling.
Hole 24, situated about 25 metres south of Hole 19 and about 35 metres
updip from Hole 22, intersected reduced thicknesses of mineralization showing
moderate to good grades.
Hole 25 was the most southeasterly of all holes drilled to date, and
intersected moderate thicknesses of mineralization, mostly cobalt, with
moderate copper grades.

Hole 23, which approximately twins Hole 17 on Section 90N, was drilled in
order to deliver fresh, unoxidized mineralized material to Research and
Productivity Council (RPC) of Fredericton, New Brunswick for preliminary
metallurgical investigations. RPC is currently assessing methods for
recovering payable metal concentrates, and selected two core intervals for
testing, shown in the table below. The remainder of Hole 23 has not been
sampled to date.

The copper-cobalt mineralization at the Captain deposit is interpreted to
occur in a deformed volcanogenic stockwork setting that is dipping steeply to
the west and plunging south, with true widths estimated to be about 60% of
vertical core lengths.
Drill core is securely stored at Stratabound's core shack facility in
Bathurst. More than 4,400 samples were submitted for assay (not including
blank samples, certified standard reference samples, quartered samples,
duplicates and third party checks submitted in accordance with Quality Control
and Quality Assurance protocols).
Hole 23 samples were submitted by RPC to Activation Laboratories of
Ancaster, Ontario. Samples from the remaining five holes were assayed by
Eastern Analytical Ltd. of Springdale, Newfoundland.
The exploration at Captain is under the supervision of John Duncan,
P.Geo. The technical information contained in this release has been reviewed
