BREUKELEN, The Netherlands, Oct. 16 /CNW/ - Nyenrode Business
Universiteit, based in the Netherlands, will offer a new scholarship to its
future students: the Stedman Graham Scholarship, a full tuition scholarship
meant for American minority students. Professor dr. Bert de Groot, Dean and
Rector Magnificus of Nyenrode, handed Mr. Graham a cheque today for a full
tuition scholarship, to be awarded by Mr. Graham personally to a student of
his choice. The Stedman Graham scholarship adds to an existing American
minority scholarship, which was initiated and fully funded by Nyenrode alumni
and professors in 2006.
Stedman Graham visited Nyenrode on occasion of a Diversity seminar at
which he was the keynote speaker. After selection by Mr. Graham, the student
will of course still have to pass the Nyenrode admission requirements.
Professor De Groot: "We are very proud of having Mr. Graham at Nyenrode
today. He is a fine example of the fact that a combination of great talent and
strong perseverance will make you succesful and, with that, of great added
value to the community. As an international business school, Nyenrode attaches
great value to a diverse student population. Nyenrode ranks 10th in the world
on the Financial Times ratings in terms of international exposure and
international class room experience. To support the great work of Mr. Graham
for minorities and young talent with financial needs, Nyenrode would like to
offer him a full tuition scholarship valued at around 35,000 US dollars."
The initiative for the new scholarship is the result of close cooperation
between Nyenrode's powerhouse Competing for Talent and Mr. Graham. Diversity
is one of the central issues of this powerhouse involving research, education
and communication with the business community. The powerhouse also strives for
international thought leadership on innovation, professionalism and vitality,
all connected to developing knowledge and insight in the dynamics of the
national and international employment market.
About the Nyenrode scholarship program
Nyenrode's scholarship program started with 60 scholarships in 2006 to
celebrate and honor the university's 60th anniversary. Now, every year, dozens
of scholarships and an equal number of coaches is put forward by the business
community, the alumni and the university itself. To be eligible for a
scholarship, students must first write an essay. If they are awarded a
scholarship, they not only receive financial support but are also assigned a
professional coach from the company in question. With the scholarship
initiative, Nyenrode is looking to enthuse more students for a career in
business, lower existing financial thresholds for talented students and
further strengthen the bond between students and business. Corporate
participants in the scholarship program range from KLM-Air France and ABN-AMRO
to Gucci and Xerox.
Companies wishing to participate in the scholarship program should
contact the Secretary of the Nyenrode Fund Erik Wuite via firstname.lastname@example.org
