Statement by the Honourable Bal Gosal, Minister of State (Sport), on the Induction of New Members into Canada's Sports Hall of Fame

OTTAWA, Nov. 8, 2011 /CNW/ - Canada's elite athletes are excellent role models for Canadian youth. Our Government is proud to support our athletes and sport leaders, and we are pleased to celebrate their achievements, including their induction into Canada's Sports Hall of Fame.

This year, the Hall of Fame welcomes athletes Ray Bourque, Andrea Neil, Lui Passaglia, Peter Reid, and Lauren Woolstencroft, as well as pillar of amateur sport Dick Pound, as its newest members.

As Minister of State (Sport), I would like to congratulate all of the 2011 inductees. Your dedication and commitment to excellence have made your names synonymous with Canadian sport, and generations of Canadians will be inspired by your achievements. I would also like to commend everyone involved with Canada's Sports Hall of Fame on the work they do to promote the importance of sport and to showcase our remarkable sport heroes.
