Statement by Hotel-Dieu Grace Hospital

"Now is the time to get to work"

WINDSOR, ON, Feb. 1 /CNW/ - Hotel-Dieu Grace Hospital today issued the
following statement pertaining to reaction to its board meeting of Wednesday,
January 30, 2008:
Assertions that Hotel-Dieu Grace Hospital is "ignoring" the Dupont jury
recommendations are completely false. Nothing could be further from the truth.
The board's commitment to the recommendations was vigorously expressed at
the meeting. It felt strongly that its full commitment to implement all of the
jury's recommendations within its power is best expressed by actually getting
on with the job of implementation.
Some attach great importance to gesture. We respectfully disagree and
attach greater importance to action and results. Now is the time to get to
work.
And we are. Implementation of the recommendations began within hours of
their release and the board has further demonstrated its commitment by working
to a detailed, target-oriented plan to achieve them.
We owe it to the community, our patients and our staff to ensure a safe
and positive environment at Hotel-Dieu Grace Hospital and will take all
measures - including implementing the jury's recommendation - within our power
to do so. That is more important than public relations exercises which might
make us feel better but do little to achieve results.
