Star moves forward with patent/licence defence

    TSX Venture Exchange Symbol: SNA

TORONTO, Sept. 5 /CNW/ - In the interest of our shareholders, our
customers and our company, Star has taken the initial steps towards protecting
its patent licence rights against infringement of those rights by
AeroMechanical Services Ltd ("AMS") of Calgary, Alberta Canada.
On August 6, 2007, Star requested reexamination of U.S. Patent
No. 7,203,630, issued to AMS.
As the first and exclusive licencee of the technology, Star believes that
U.S. Patent No. 7,113,852 is relevant to the patentability of AMS's patent and
should have been cited in its prosecution history. Omission of consideration
of such patent is sufficient to question the validity of the AMS patent and
raises issues regarding the enforceability of AMS's patent.
In addition to the request for patent reexamination, Star has put AMS on
notice regarding its infringement of Star's intellectual property. Information
that is available to us regarding AMS' technology indicates that AMS is
knowingly infringing on U.S. Patent No. 7,113,852 and corresponding patents
around the world. As a result, Star is diligently preparing the case for
infringement should such formal action be required. Both Star and its legal
counsel are extremely confident that Star's case will be successful.
Accordingly, Star has formally requested that AMS cease and desist its
infringing activities including the sale and offer for sale of the
AFIRS(TM) 200 and any other product/service.
Star will continue to vigorously protect its intellectual property
rights.
