A new era on skates vs. skills and drills
TORONTO, Jan. 23 /CNW/ - While hockey's all-stars are skating in circles
and taking slap shots at Styrofoam targets down in Atlanta, Georgia on
Jan. 26, one hundred of the sport's grittiest competitors will be carving in a
new era on skates as they hurtle down a twisting, jumping 535m urban ice-track
at speeds of over 50km through the streets of Old Quebec! Never heard anything
like it? Wait 'til you see it. On Saturday January 26th at 9:00pm EST, TSN and
TSN HD will broadcast the Red Bull Crashed Ice 2008 finals LIVE from Quebec
City! The event will also be available on-demand at www.TSN.ca.
Red Bull Crashed Ice, a combination of hockey, downhill skiing, and
bordercross, will take over the historic district of Old Quebec for the third
year in a row. Instead of a traditional flat-surface ice rink, hockey players
and action-sports enthusiasts from across Canada will race down a twisting
course riddled with massive vertical drops, razor-sharp turns, big-air jumps
and ice steps built within Canada's steepest streets - all while battling
three other skaters.
Fueling their pace will be over 75,000 roaring spectators, a pair of
skates, gravity and one simple goal: first to the bottom wins.
