MISSISSAUGA, ON, June 30 /CNW/ - Over 20,000 special guests and delegates
from all over the world attended the third and final day of the 32nd Annual
Conference of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community in Canada which was held from
June 27th to 29th at the International Centre in Mississauga (Derry and
Airport Rd). This Annual Conference was particularly significant as it
occurred during the 100th anniversary of the establishment of the institution
of Khilafat (succession) in the Community, as well as its re-establishment in
the Muslim world-at-large, and it was graced by the presence of the current
Khalifa of the Community, His Holiness Hadhrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad, Khalifatul
Masih V (mah Allah strengthen his hands).
The final day of the Conference opened with a presentation made by the
Chairman of Humanity First Canada highlighting the amazing efforts and
commitment of Ahmadiyya Muslim Community in the service of humanity regardless
of ethnicity or religion.
Hundreds of specials guests and dignitaries attended, including Hon.
Jason Kenny, Hon. Michael Ignatieff, Mayors David Miller, Susan Fennell, and
Hazel McCallion among many others, they delivered congratulatory remarks and
praised His Holiness and the Ahmadiyya Community in Canada for their
contributions to Canadian society, their service to humanity, and their belief
in and advocacy for peace in society and a non-violent interpretation of Jihad
In his closing address, His Holiness drew attention to the verse in the
Holy Qur'an which refers to the granting of the blessing of Khilafat to the
Muslim world. This verse makes specific reference to being and striving
towards righteousness and piety as a necessary condition for the granting of
this blessing. Even those who are not members of the Ahmadiyya Community write
to His Holiness praising the conduct and character of his Community asserting
that if there is any community in the world that can be considered righteous
and good, it is the Ahmadiyya Community. His Holiness exhorted his followers
to continue in their efforts to maintain and strive towards righteousness,
piety and goodness, and to continue to serve humanity and treating all people,
regardless of their colour or creed, with love, affection and gentleness.
After the closing of the session, the Community hosted a luncheon in
honour of all of the special guests and dignitaries who attended, and each was
blessed with the opportunity to personally meet with His Holiness.
The entire session was telecast live via satellite on the Community's
24-hour television station, Muslim Television Ahmadiyya (MTA).
