MISSISSAUGA, ON, June 29 /CNW/ - Over 20,000 special guests and delegates
from all over the world attended the second day of the 32nd Annual Conference
of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community in Canada which is being held from June 27th
to 29th at the International Centre in Mississauga (Derry and Airport Rd).
This Annual Conference is particularly significant as it is occurring during
the 100th anniversary of the establishment of the institution of Khilafat
(succession) in the Community, as well as its re-establishment in the Muslim
world-at-large, and it is being graced by the presence of the current Khalifa
of the Community, His Holiness Hadhrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad, Khalifatul Masih V
(may Allah strengthen his hands).
The keynote address of His Holiness was delivered live via satellite
through the Community's 24-hour television station, Muslim Television
Ahmadiyya (MTA). The address was delivered from the ladies' section of the
Conference, and was directed primarily towards Ahmadi women. In his address,
His Holiness praised women who strive towards righteousness, modesty,
repentance and steadfastness, and encouraged others to also develop the same
ethic and values. For example, mothers who live exemplary lives of piety,
dedicating themselves wholly to prayer and devotion to Allah, set wonderful
examples for their children who witness such habits and then learn to adopt
and imbibe them in themselves. His Holiness stressed the crucial role of
mothers in the spiritual development of their children and exhorted them to be
ever-mindful of this role for the sake of the future generations of the
Community. The address was inspirational for all listeners as it was meant to
also inspire Ahmadi men the desire to emulate the examples of piety and
chastity set by so many devout Ahmadi women.
In addition, throughout the day, scholars and historians of the Community
presented biographical papers on the lives of each of the first four Khalifas
of the Community, as well as a paper on certain projects asserted by the
present Khalifa of the Community.
Tomorrow, during the final day of the Conference, a presentation will be
made by the Chairman of Humanity First Canada highlighting the amazing efforts
and commitment of Ahmadiyya Muslim Community for the service to humanity
regardless of ethnicity or religion.
The keynote address for the final day of the Conference will be delivered
by His Holiness after the remarks of invited dignitaries consisting of
representatives of all levels of government, diplomats, academia and ethnic
and faith leaders. After the address, these dignitaries will attend a luncheon
hosted by the Community in their honor.
The Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, which lives in accordance with its motto,
"Love for All, Hatred for None," was established in 1889 by Hadhrat Mirza
Ghulam Ahmad in Qadian, India under divine guidance. His stated mission was to
convey to the world Islam's message of peace and love as presented in the Holy
Qur'an and the Sunnah (traditions) of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (peace and
blessings of Allah be upon him), as well as to present the teachings of Islam
in their uncorrupted and pristinely pure form.
