Special Olympics and STAPLES Business Depot Invites Canadians to Give a Dollar. Share a Dream.

Major Retailer supports Special Olympics through in-store fundraising
    campaign

TORONTO, Nov. 1 /CNW/ - Dreams can come true everyday in communities
across Canada, when you donate through the Give a Dollar. Share a Dream.
campaign from November 1st until November 17th at your local STAPLES Business
Depot.
Now in its eighth year, Give a Dollar. Share a Dream. raises funds to
maintain and develop community sports programs for Special Olympics athletes.
"The benefits of the Give a Dollar. Share a Dream. campaign are evident
on and off the playing field," said Ms. Deborah Bright, Special Olympics
Canada President & CEO. "Thanks to the support of STAPLES Business Depot and
its customers, Special Olympics athletes can better perform in all aspects of
their lives, through their involvement in sport."
"Without the Give a Dollar. Share a Dream. program, and the support of
companies like STAPLES Business Depot, my dream of winning a gold medal could
not have come true," said Ms. Christina Campbell (Chesterville, Ontario),
Special Olympics 2007 Team Canada gold medal winner and the face of the 2007
Give a Dollar. Share a Dream. campaign. Ms. Campbell went on to say that, "The
Give a Dollar. Share a Dream. campaign is especially close to my heart because
I am a Special Olympics athlete and a STAPLES Business Depot associate."
Over the past seven years, the Give a Dollar. Share a Dream. campaign has
raised more than $2 million for Special Olympics Canada. In 2006, the campaign
raised $527,202 for Special Olympics, and this year's goal is to continue to
build on that success.
"STAPLES Business Depot is committed to improving the lives of Special
Olympic athletes all across Canada. Through the annual Give a Dollar. Share a
Dream. campaign our associates and customers make a direct and positive impact
on the lives of Special Olympics athletes in the communities in which they
work and live," said Mr. Steve Maytas, President, STAPLES Business Depot.
This year's Give a Dollar. Share a Dream. campaign will run for more than
two weeks, from Thursday, November 1 to Saturday, November 17.
Together Canadians can make a difference in the lives of athletes with an
intellectual disability and help provide a venue for Special Olympics athletes
to achieve personal goals on and off the playing field.
