VANCOUVER, June 11 /CNW/ - SONIC Technology Solutions Inc. ("SONIC" or
"the Company") is pleased to announce today that Roger Lott has agreed to
serve as a heavy oil Advisor to Sonic.
Mr. Lott has a very extensive background relevant to the PetroSonic heavy
oil upgrading process. He spent 20 years at Alberta Research Council (ARC)
specializing in heavy oil upgrading and managing development programs. His
work resulted in the development of the HCAT hydrocracking process for
upgrading of heavy oil using homogeneous catalyst.
In 2001, Roger joined Headwaters Technology Innovation (HTI), a
subsidiary of Headwaters that is listed on the New York Stock Exchange, as
Vice President of Heavy Oil. HTI licensed the HCAT process from ARC and Roger
developed additional patents applying the HCAT technology to improve the
performance of existing heavy oil upgraders. Roger supervised the
implementation of HCAT technology in commercial hydrocracking upgraders in
European and North American refineries.
In March 2009, Roger joined Aldwich Canada, a subsidiary of Aldwich
Enviro-Management Malaysia, as the Chief Technology Officer. Aldwich Malaysia
operates a spent catalyst recycling plant and a refinery converting waste oil
into diesel. He continues to consult for Headwaters.
Roger Lott commented, "I have verified how PetroSonic's technology can
provide a simpler, low cost, and environmentally friendly deasphalting process
for removing the asphaltenes along with sulfur and metals from the heavy oil.
Once deasphalted the oil is much easier to process into refined products."
Roger has presented technical papers on heavy oil upgrading at the World
Petroleum Congresses, Asia Refining Technology Conferences, Bottom of the
Barrel Conferences, and European Refining Technology Conference. Roger is a
registered professional engineer in Alberta and has a chemical engineering
degree from Leeds University, England, and a Masters degree from Queen's
University at Kingston, Ontario.
Adam Sumel, Chief Executive Officer of the Company, commented, "We are
now attracting the right kind of heavy oil related persons to our team to
assure commercial execution of our PetroSonic upgrading process. I am pleased
to welcome Roger to our team to help us for our current needs and work with us
on additional business development opportunities, here and in Asia."
The Company has agreed to grant 1,400,000 stock options exercisable at
$0.15 per share, to certain Directors, advisors and consultants. The terms and
