Sofame Technologies Announces Quarterly Loss, Improvement in Order Bookings to $2.1 million



    MONTREAL, June 1 /CNW Telbec/ - Sofame Technologies Inc. (TSX-V: SDW), a
leading manufacturer of environmentally efficient industrial hot water systems
and cost efficient heat recovery equipment for traditional boilers, has
reported a quarterly loss of $746,384 on second quarter sales of $289,363. The
confirmed order backlog at March 31, 2009 stood at $1,122,075.
    Financial Highlights of the Second Quarter (First Half) of 2009 were as
follows:

    
    - Revenues were $289,363 ($616,459) versus $766,027 ($1,355,438) in the
      same period in 2008
    - Gross Margin was 21.5% (24.8%) versus 38.9% (37.8%) in the same period
      in 2008
    - Net Losses were $746,384 ($1,652,298) versus $248,524 ($485,576) in the
      same period in 2008
    - Cash was $497,419 at March 31, 2009 versus $638,359 at September 30,
      2008
    - Contracts signed in the second and third quarters of 2009 totalled
      $ 2,087,950.
    

    Basic and diluted earnings (loss) per share for the second quarter were
($0.0058) versus basic and diluted earnings (loss) per share of ($0.0030) for
the second quarter of the prior year. Net loss after six months for fiscal
year 2009 translates into basic and diluted earnings (loss) per share of
($0.0129), an increase of 118.6% over the ($0.0059) basic and diluted earnings
(loss) per share for the same period in 2008. There are currently 99,894,216
common shares of Sofame issued and outstanding.
    Operational Highlights of the First Half of 2009 were as follows:

    
    - As of March 31, 2009, Sofame had developed and retained 80+ active
      project leads worth over $40 million
    - 29 quotes worth $9.1 million were completed in Q2, & orders for
      $772,400 were booked after the quarter end
    - Two Manufacturer's Representatives took the Sofame line in Q1 in
      British Columbia and Ontario
    - Three Manufacturer's Representatives took the Sofame line in Q2 in
      Omaha, Denver and Houston
    - André Caillé, former President of Gaz Metropolitain, Hydro Quebec and
      WEC, became a Sofame Advisor
    - David Gottfried, founder of the U.S. and World Green Building Councils,
      became a Sofame Advisor. The USGBC is the creator of LEED Building
      Standards.
    - Sofame expanded its in-house sales force and created alliances with
      leasing and carbon credit partners
    - Two new Directors joined Sofame's Board, Hubert Marleau and Robert
      Presser
    - Michel Brisson, formerly President of SAP Canada, joined Sofame as
      President & CEO to boost sales efforts
    

    In addition, Sofame's Board of Directors has granted options in respect
of a total of 750,000 common shares to Mr. Michel Brisson, President and Chief
Executive Officer of the corporation, at an exercise price of $0.14 per share,
representing the closing price of Sofame's shares on the TSX Venture Exchange
on May 28, 2009. The foregoing options were granted pursuant to Sofame's stock
option plan and in accordance with the terms and conditions of Mr. Brisson's
employment contract.
