VANCOUVER, Jan. 30 /CNW/ - Snowfield Development Corp. ("Snowfield" and
the "Company") reports that, after having been contacted in December 2006 by a
production company headquartered in Los Angeles, California, a documentary
film crew visited Snowfield's Ticho Project during the week of January 21-27,
2007. The purpose of the visit was to obtain film footage for a documentary
being produced for the History Channel. The focus originally covered ice road
access to Canada's diamond mines. While conducting their research, the
producers of the documentary became aware that Snowfield was extracting a
500 tonne bulk sample from the diamondiferous Mud Lake kimberlite. They then
contacted Snowfield and asked if they could have permission to film the
extraction of the bulk sample as they realized that this footage could well be
the precursor to the start of a diamond mine's life. Snowfield was happy to
grant permission and will co-operate fully with the documentary crew. This is
the second major documentary news crew to have visited the Ticho Project in
recent years.
The American CBS Network sent a crew from their news program 60 Minutes
with Carol Marin to film a segment on Canada's diamond mines. This segment was
filmed in 2001 and included a visit to the Ticho Project and an interview with
David Smith, Snowfield's joint venture partner in the Ticho Project. The focus
of the interview was centered around how diamond mines are originally
prospected and how involved that process is.
Management of Snowfield is confident that increased public awareness of
the Ticho Project and its potential can only be beneficial for the Company's
shareholders.
The Ticho Project is located 55km southeast of Yellowknife, NWT and hosts
the diamondiferous Mud Lake kimberlite; the subject of the above referenced
500 tonne bulk sample.
