TORONTO, March 4 /CNW/ - Calling all art buffs, socialites and
photographers - SNAP!, one of Canada's leading photography events and a vital
fundraiser for the AIDS Committee of Toronto (ACT), is a night not to be
Held on Sunday, March 4th and in its sixth year, SNAP! is expected to
raise $120,000 and draw more than 1,000 art aficionados to the chic National
Ballet School in Toronto. This swanky event will feature a gala reception, a
photography competition with over 300 works from professional and amateur
photographers, a live auction, and a silent auction.
Some of the elite artists featured at this year's event include:
- Edward Burtynsky - a Canadian photographer with an international
reputation and an agenda for positive social and environmental
- Donald Weber - A Kiev-based Canadian photographer who covered the
World AIDS Conference for the New York Times. His work, also being
auctioned off at SNAP!, received an Honourable Mention from World
Press Photo in 2006.
- John Oswald - A Canadian multimedia artist who was the recipient of
the 2006 Governor General's Award for Visual and Media Arts and
recipient of the Toronto Untitled Art Award.
- Eldon Garnet - one of Canada's original contemporary artists with
surveys at the National Gallery of Canada, Museum of Contemporary
Canadian Art and the Amsterdam Center of Photography.
Additional returning artists to include Andy Fabo, Jesse Boles, Joshua
Jensen-Naigle and distinguished sharp shooters represented at SNAP! for the

The AIDS Committee of Toronto (ACT) delivers responsive, effective, and
valued community-based HIV support services and education, prevention,
outreach and fundraising programs that promote the health, well-being, worth
and rights of individuals and communities living with, affected by and at risk
for HIV/AIDS, and increase awareness of HIV/AIDS.
Founded in 1983, ACT provides emotional and practical support services to
men, women and youth living with HIV/AIDS, and offers support to their family,
