Small Construction Businesses receive increased rebates with launch of CSN program!

BURNABY, BC, April 27 /CNW/ - Today, small construction companies in BC
will have access to increased rebates up to 15% from WorkSafeBC when they
complete the NEW Small Business Certificate of Recognition (COR) program being
launched in Nanaimo, BC by the Construction Safety Network (CSN). Developed in
association with the CSABC and WorkSafeBC the COR program for small business
helps owners of small construction companies understand and manage their
health and safety responsibilities to reduce workplace injuries and site
delays.
"The Day of Mourning is tomorrow so the program launch comes at an
important time to emphasize the importance of workplace safety," says Stephen
Torrence, CEO of the Construction Safety Network. "The CSN would like to
remind people that safety is good business. The COR program has proven to be
extremely successful in increasing the safety culture of employers who have
taken part in the program. We urge everyone to make April 28th a day of action
focused on improving health and safety in your own workplace."
The Small Business Certificate of Recognition (COR) program is based on
the nationally recognized Certificate of Recognition (COR) program which has
been running in BC for the past six years and helps establish safety standards
for the construction industry. The Construction Safety Network have enrolled
over 500 BC companies in the COR program since its inception.
Today's course in Nanaimo is the first in a series of courses for the
Small Business COR program. Other courses are planned for May 21st in Kelowna
and May 29th in Langley, BC. The COR program is free and available to
companies registered in WorkSafe BC's Construction Sub-Sector 72, Aggregate
Producers 704006, 704008, and Ready-Mix 712006, 712033, 712038, 712004723.
