MISSISSAUGA, ON, Sept. 8 /CNW/ - Two investigators and one forensic
investigator from the Special Investigations Unit (SIU) are probing the
circumstances surrounding an incident that occurred at 7:15 p.m. on Monday,
At 10:00 p.m. yesterday evening, Peterborough County OPP reported to the
SIU that officers had responded to a disturbance call in Norwood. The person
the officers wanted to speak with fled the scene on foot. Officers caught up
to the 31 year old man a short time later. There was a physical interaction
and the man was taken into custody. The man was taken to the Campbellford
Memorial Hospital for treatment.
Investigators are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed this

The SIU is a civilian agency that investigates cases of serious injuries
(including allegations of sexual assault) and deaths involving the police.
Pursuant to section 113 of the Police Services Act, the Director of the SIU is
mandated to consider whether a criminal offence has been committed by an
officer(s) in connection with the incident under investigation and, where
warranted by the evidence, to cause a criminal charge or charges to be laid
against the officer(s). The Director reports the results of investigations to
the Attorney General.
