TORONTO, Sept. 22 /CNW/ - The following is an update to the SIU news
releases of September 17, 2008 and September 20, 2008 re: the custody death of
42-year-old Sean Reilly. Mr. Reilly went into medical distress after being
tasered in the cell area of 12 Division on September 16th and died later in
hospital.
A post-mortem has shown no anatomical cause of death. The pathologist has
ordered toxicology tests at the Centre of Forensic Sciences in Toronto to
assist in determining the exact cause of death.
The SIU investigation continues this week with ongoing interviews of
subject and witness officers.

The SIU is a civilian agency that investigates cases of serious injuries
(including allegations of sexual assault) and deaths involving the police.
Pursuant to section 113 of the Police Services Act, the Director of the SIU is
mandated to consider whether a criminal offence has been committed by an

warranted by the evidence, to cause a criminal charge or charges to be laid
against the officer(s). The Director reports the results of investigations to
