MISSISSAUGA, ON, May 29 /CNW/ - The Special Investigations Unit (SIU) is
probing the circumstances surrounding a motor vehicle collision that occurred
in London early this morning.
The London Police Service (LPS) reported that at 1:42 a.m. three officers
were conducting an investigation on Black Friar near Argyle Street. Another
officer was on scene and seated in his LPS SUV. A vehicle driving westbound
drove into the front of the stopped LPS vehicle. The officer from the police
vehicle and the 27 year old driver of the other vehicle were taken to Victoria
Hospital in London for treatment.
The SIU has assigned four investigators and three forensic investigators
to probe the circumstances surrounding this incident.
Investigators are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed this

The SIU is a civilian agency that investigates cases of serious injuries
(including allegations of sexual assault) and deaths involving the police.
Pursuant to section 113 of the Police Services Act, the Director of the SIU is
mandated to consider whether a criminal offence has been committed by an
officer(s) in connection with the incident under investigation and, where
warranted by the evidence, to cause a criminal charge or charges to be laid
against the officer(s). The Director reports the results of investigations to
the Attorney General.
