MISSISSAUGA, ON, Sept. 12 /CNW/ - Three investigators and two forensic
investigators from the Special Investigations Unit (SIU) are probing the
circumstances surrounding the death of a 42 year old man that occurred in Mono
Township on Saturday, September 12.
At 5:50 a.m. this morning, the Orangeville Police Service (OPS) reported
to the SIU that on Friday, September 11, just before midnight, officers
responded to a reported domestic dispute at a residence in Orangeville. A
short time later, police returned to the residence after learning that a 39
year old female occupant of the home had been shot. The OPS then went to a
second residence in the Mono Township, and requested assistance from the
Ontario Provincial Police. A deceased male was found in the home.
The female found in the Orangeville home was airlifted to Sunnybrook
Health Sciences Centre in Toronto. Her injuries proved fatal.
Investigators are appealing for anyone who may have information regarding

The SIU is a civilian agency that investigates cases of serious injuries
(including allegations of sexual assault) and deaths involving the police.
Pursuant to section 113 of the Police Services Act, the Director of the SIU is
mandated to consider whether a criminal offence has been committed by an
officer(s) in connection with the incident under investigation and, where
warranted by the evidence, to cause a criminal charge or charges to be laid
against the officer(s). The Director reports the results of investigations to
the Attorney General.
