SIU Investigates custody injury in Mississauga



    TORONTO, Feb. 11 /CNW/ - Three investigators and a forensic
identification technician from the Special Investigations Unit (SIU) are
investigating the circumstances surrounding an incident at a residence in
Mississauga.
    On Sunday, February 10, 2008 at approximately 8:20 PM officers from the
Peel Regional Police Service executed a search warrant at a residence in
Mississauga and arrested an adult man and woman. The woman was treated at
hospital for a fractured hip.
    The SIU is appealing for anyone who witnessed this incident to contact
the Unit at 416-622-1988 or 1-800-787-8529 Ext. 1988.
    This release will be updated when more information is available.

    The SIU is a civilian agency that investigates circumstances involving
police and civilians, which have resulted in serious injury, sexual assault or
death. Under Part VII, Section 113, of the Police Services Act, the Director
of the SIU has the sole authority to decide whether or not charges are
warranted based on the findings of a complete investigation. The Director's
decision is reported to the Attorney General.
