TROIS-RIVIERES, QC, June 14 /CNW/ - On the occasion of Ferranti-Packard
(Quebec) VA Tech's 50th anniversary in business, the company announced the
changing of its name to Siemens Transformers Canada. This announcement
represents a milestone in the company's positioning and market offering in
addition to making a stronger connection to the Siemens Canada organization.
"Today's announcement marks a significant moment in our company's
history," said François Faisy, General Manager of the Trois-Rivières facility.
"Rapid growth and excellent performance by Siemens in the transformer market,
along with strong leadership in the industry has led to excellent
relationships with key customers in Ontario, Quebec and Atlantic Canada. We
are very proud of our accomplishments and our customers' success in Canada."
Along with employees and key customers, also on hand to celebrate the
50th anniversary were company officials from Germany and Canada. "This
operation demonstrates our commitment to continued investment in Quebec," said
Marcus Horn, newly appointed Vice-President of Siemens Canada's Power
Transmission and Distribution division. "What is really important for us is to
be able to show our customers that we are a solid partner committed to
providing the best possible local technology, and that we are an integral part
of the community."
The facility currently employs 85 people and produces pole mounted
transformers and special purpose transformers, up to 1,000 kVA. The
Trois-Rivières facility has the most advanced technology for the production of
single phase distribution transformers among all Siemens factories world-wide.

the facility has more than doubled during the past several years and
