Sharp Canada Takes The Pressure Off This Father's Day

MISSISSAUGA, ON, June 14 /CNW/ - Sharp Electronics knows that, come
Sunday, fathers across the country will be opening oddly-wrapped packages of
ties, tools and tacky trinkets. But what does Dad really want for Father's
Day?
Judging by the historic jump in sales of Sharp AQUOS LCD televisions
during the month of June, what Dad is hoping for is a big screen TV.
June is typically one of the highest selling months for flat panel TVs in
Canada. If past years' sales are any indication, Sharp estimates that this
June as many as 5000 flat panel TVs of all kinds could be sold every day; 208
per hour; almost 3.5 every minute. If all the flat panel TVs expected to be
sold in June were 46" Sharp AQUOS D82 models they'd stretch more than 170
kilometres - almost as far as from Ottawa to Montreal. That's enough to fill a
standard NHL Hockey Rink in a stack 79 layers deep.
Clearly, flat panel TVs are a popular choice in June. The trouble with
buying Dad an LCD TV for Father's Day is not knowing which model he wants.
Plus, big screen TVs are kind of hard to wrap and hard to hide.
To help spouses and significant others everywhere this year, Sharp has
created the Father's Day Permission Slip, granting Dad the authorization to go
out and purchase the AQUOS TV of his choosing.
Copies of the permission slip can be downloaded to print and give to Dad
this Sunday at http://www.sharp.ca/about/press/index.asp. Let Dad do the
legwork and you know he'll be happy.
