Access To Wide Range Of Government Services Now Easier For Local
RED LAKE, ON, Dec. 21 /CNW/ - The Ontario government is making it easier
for Red Lake residents to access a wide range of government services,
including driver and vehicle licensing services, Government and Consumer
Services Minister Ted McMeekin and Northern Development and Mines Minister
Michael Gravelle announced today.
"Our government is committed to ensuring Ontarians have fast, friendly
and easy access to government services right across this province," McMeekin
said. "Ontario families - whether large or small, urban or rural - need to be
able to count on the services that make our communities strong."
"In Ontario's vast North, ServiceOntario centres act as important service
islands for the residents of more distant or isolated communities," said
Gravelle, whose ministry oversees ServiceOntario operations in Northern
Ontario. "Our ServiceOntario staff has contributed immensely to ours being the
first Ontario ministry to attain Level 3 certification under the National
Quality Institute's Progressive Excellence Program, recognizing our customer
service as being second to none."
ServiceOntario - Red Lake, located at the Red Lake Heritage Centre, 51A
Highway 105, is open Monday to Friday from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm. Driver and
vehicle licensing services will be offered at this location beginning January
Other government services available at this location include:
- Access to public computers and help from staff to access online
services, such as driver and vehicle licences, birth, death and
marriage certificates, business registrations and business name
- Access to "life events" information packages such as "Lost Wallet"
and "Getting Married"
- Access to provincial agencies such as Kenora Community Legal Clinic
and disability consultation services
- Commissioner of Oaths services
- Landlord and Tenant Board applications
- Free government publications including Ontario Parks Guide, fishing
and hunting regulations and power of attorney kits
- Ministry of Natural Resources fish and wildlife services, information
