QUEBEC, Sept. 8 /CNW Telbec/ -
Letter from Minister Marguerite Blais
to all grandparents of Québec
Nowadays, your grandchildren affectionately call you granddad, grandma,
grandpa or granny. A treasure trove of knowledge, experience and, above all,
love, you are the ones being honoured on this Grandparents' Day.
I would like to join the people of Québec in expressing all the love that
we feel for you. Grandparents' Day allows us to pay tribute to your wisdom and
to your invaluable advice, which will remain forever etched in our memories
and our hearts.
Not only are we your descendents, but we are also the product of what you
have taught us, conveyed to us and instilled in us.
Being a grandmother myself, I very much realize that our role and our
responsibilities have evolved over time. Indeed, we find ourselves confronted
with new social realities on an almost daily basis. The aging of the
population and the increase in life expectancy are factors that may explain
the growing importance of our mission within our society.
Despite all these changes, you have been, are and will continue to be the
pillars of our families and the roots of our lives.
I would like to wish the grandparents of Québec a wonderful day.
