September 21st municipal by-election for two councillor's positions in Montréal



    QUEBEC, June 16 /CNW Telbec/ - A by-election will be held on
September 21st of this year for councillor's positions nos. 1 and 3 in the
City of Montréal. Marcel Blanchet, Chief Electoral Officer of Québec,
reiterates the rules for the financing of candidates and the control of
election expenses that will apply throughout the election period beginning on
August 2nd.
    Individuals wishing to run as candidates in this election may submit
their nomination papers to Yves Saindon, the returning officer, from August
8th to 29th.

    To learn more about the municipal elections and financing rules, media
representatives can consult the Press room on the website of the Chief
Electoral Officer. In the press room, simply click on the "Municipal" link. A
summary of the main rules on financing is accessible by clicking on
"Information on municipal political financing" followed by "In brief...".
Under the "Municipal" heading, you can also have access to an interactive
presentation entitled "What you need to know!", which provides information on
the various financing rules.
