TORONTO, Nov. 16 /CNW/ - Well known Canadian author and political expert
Senator Hugh Segal will be presented with the Public Affairs Association of
Canada (PAAC)'s Award of Distinction at the association's 8th annual
conference on November 21. Senator Segal was selected as this year's award
recipient in recognition of his years of service in public affairs as an
author, lecturer, advisor and most recently member of the Canadian Senate.
Senator Segal headlines the roster of leaders who will be speaking at the
upcoming annual conference of the Public Affairs Association of Canada (PAAC.)
In all, over 25 experts in public affairs will be speaking at the event.
Conference discussions focus on the increasingly complex and dynamic world of
grassroots and stakeholder advocacy.
"Choosing the most effective tools to communicate with and motivate
citizens about important issues is one of the key functions of people engaged
public affairs," says PAAC President Elaine Flis. The PAAC conference brings
together some of the brightest minds in Canada and the United States to debate
and discuss what are the emerging tools and trends in stakeholder relations.
"People working for governments, NGO's, associations or in the private sector
are going to learn about best practices in the public affairs field of
stakeholder relations," says Flis.
Other speakers include US-based Amy Showalter, Founder and President of
the Showalter Group, a leader in public affairs advocacy, and John Kyte,
Director, Crisis and Issues Management, at Burson Marsteller.
