Second Annual Personal Support Worker Scholarship for Care in the Community Launches

TORONTO, May 21 /CNW/ - The Personal Support Network of Ontario (PSNO) in
partnership with Saint Elizabeth Health Care and the Ontario Community Support
Association (OCSA), are pleased to announce the launch of the second annual
Personal Support Worker Scholarship for Care in the Community. A $2,000
scholarship will be awarded to assist a Personal Support Worker (PSW) to
pursue career advancement in the home and community support field.
This is a special opportunity for one lucky personal support worker in
the province of Ontario, thanks to the generous support of Saint Elizabeth
Health Care. "Last year laid the groundwork for our scholarship initiative,"
says Ms. Lori Payne, Director of PSNO. "PSWs are constantly looking for
opportunities to continue to learn and grow in the field, sometimes without
the means to pursue those opportunities. We commend Saint Elizabeth Health
Care for its commitment to support and recognize personal support workers."
Personal Support Workers play a major role in our health care system. In
Ontario over 90,000 of these women and men provide essential, personal care
for patients and clients in their homes, communities, long term care
facilities, supportive housing units and hospitals. "Continuous learning is
essential in today's community health care environment," says Nancy Lefebre,
Senior Vice President of Knowledge and Practice at Saint Elizabeth Health
Care. "Investing in ongoing education opportunities for Ontario PSWs is a
meaningful way to honour people for their incredible leadership and commitment
to care."
Additional information on the application process can be found at
www.psno.ca. Applications must be received at the PSNO office no later than
5:00pm on June, 15th. Applications may be emailed to membership@psno.ca, faxed
