School's almost out and community centres are clean and ready for action

Procter & Gamble awards Hamilton and Montreal community centres a top-to-
    bottom clean

TORONTO, June 10 /CNW/ - With the end of school fast approaching and the
heat of summer nearly upon us, community centres are gearing up for action. To
celebrate the start of another busy season, Procter & Gamble's household
cleaning brands - Swiffer, Mr. Clean, Cascade, Dawn and Febreze - have
partnered to launch the Simply Clean Communities Challenge. Out of the nine
private, non-profit community centres located throughout Southeastern Ontario
and Quebec that were selected to participate, The Welcome Inn of Hamilton,
Ontario and Toujours Ensemble of Montreal, Quebec emerged as the winners and
are set to experience a refreshingly clean makeover just in time for summer
programs.
From April 1st until May 31, the Simply Clean Communities Challenge,
sponsored by Procter & Gamble, challenged residents of southeastern Ontario
and Quebec to vote for one community centre in each region to receive a
top-to-bottom spring clean-up. At simplycleancommunities.ca and
communauteetincelante.ca, people learned about the community centres and
rallied to cast their votes for the community centre in their region to win.
Toujours Ensemble in Montreal won the challenge in the Quebec region with well
over 30 per cent of the votes while the Welcome Inn in Hamilton took top prize
accumulating close to 20 per cent of votes from the public.
"We're thrilled to help give the Simply Clean Communities Challenge
winners a sparkling start to their busy summer season," says Victoria Maybee,
External Relations Manager, Procter & Gamble. "We know that most of these
centres are volunteer-based and an integral part of community life. With this
extra cleaning help, these community centres will have more time to re-focus
on the programs that help fuel their communities."
Both the Welcome Inn (Hamilton) and Toujours Ensemble (Montreal) will be
cleaned from top-to-bottom by a professional team of cleaners using household
cleaning products from Mr. Clean, Swiffer, Dawn, Cascade and Febreze. An
additional prize of a three-month supply of these brand name products will
also help centres stay clean for the rest of the busy summer season.
Other community centres that participated in the challenge included The
Boys and Girls Club (London); Le Chaînon (Montreal); the Franklin Horner
Community Centre (Etobicoke); Our Place Family Resource Centre (Kitchener);
Pathways for Children, Youth and Families of York Region (Richmond Hill); Les
Rue des Femmes (Montreal) and Tyndale St-Georges Community Centre (Montreal).
These community centres offer a wide range of services to the people they
serve, ranging from pre-natal programs to family support, adult literacy
programs to food banks, sports and nutritional meal-cooking. In recognition of
their tireless efforts and their participation in the Simply Clean
Communitities Challenge, each of these centres will receive a handy supply of
cleaning products from Mr. Clean, Swiffer, Dawn, Cascade and Febreze.
These community centres play a large role in many people's lives so a
sparkling clean makeover couldn't have come at a better time. To learn more
