TORONTO, March 2 /CNW/ - The Toronto Site Organizing Committee (TSOC) of
FIFA U-20 World Cup Canada 2007 is pleased to announce that GTA sports fans
can follow this Saturday's historic Official Draw event at two satellite fan
sites in Toronto.
"The Official Draw is a major milestone and a much-anticipated event that
will determine the groups, venues and opponents for the 24 nations," said TSOC
general manager Sharon Bollenbach. "Sports fans and soccer fans across the GTA
will have a chance to share in the excitement by getting together at the fan
sites to follow their country in a festive atmosphere."
The satellite fan sites will be located at Cervejaria Downtown and
Scallywags, two of the pre-eminent soccer bars in the GTA. Fans will be able
to watch the Official Draw at 4:30 p.m. EST on big screens and take part in
pools, prize contests and special promotions. Cervejaria Downtown is in the
heart of Little Portugal and a popular hangout for Portugal and Brazil
supporters during the World Cup and European championship. Located in midtown
Toronto, Scallywags is the home base for Liverpool Supporters Club and
renowned for screening major international sporting events. The following is

TSOC invites media, including those unable to attend the Official Draw,
to the viewing parties to interview fans and capture images. Media and fans
can also track the Official Draw results in real time at FIFA's website,
The Official Draw, which is closed to the public, takes place Saturday,
March 3, 2007 at 4:30 p.m. EST at Liberty Grand Entertainment Complex,
Exhibition Place in Toronto. CBC, the tournament's official host broadcaster,
will air the event live across Canada.
FIFA U-20 World Cup Canada 2007 - It's gonna be huge.
In 2007, the world's biggest game is coming to Canada. Canada will host
the World's finest under-20 players in six cities across the country -
Victoria, Burnaby, Edmonton, Toronto, Ottawa, and Montréal - June 30 - July
The biennial event is second only to the FIFA World Cup(TM) in size and
scope and will showcase the most talented under-20 soccer players in the
world. The tournament has been the coming-out party for some of the game's top
players - Maradona, Saviola, Razl, Marco Van Basten, Luis Figo, Ruiz Costa,
Thierry Henry, Adriano, Roberto Carlos, Bebeto and Dunga as well as Canada's
Craig Forrest and many members of the current Men's World Cup Team including
Julian de Guzman, Paul Stalteri, Atiba Hutchinson and Iain Hume. Last held in
CONCACAF in 1983 in Mexico, Canada's most recent participation in this event
occurred last June in the Netherlands from June 10 - July 2, 2005. Canada
enjoyed its best ever finish in a World Championship in December 2003, losing
to eventual silver medalist Spain on a golden goal in the quarter finals in
the United Arab Emirates.
