SASKATOON, Nov. 22 /CNW/ - From almost 12,000 entries, two Saskatchewan
fans have won the Scotiabank "Take Possession" contest and are on their way to
Toronto for the 95th Annual Grey Cup game between the Saskatchewan Roughriders
and the Winnipeg Blue Bombers on Sunday, November 25th. Scotiabank is the
Official Bank of the CFL and Grey Cup.
"Scotiabank is proud to be a sponsor the CFL and the 2007 Grey Cup in
Toronto," said George Marlatte, Scotiabank Senior Vice-President, Prairie
Region. "It's the enthusiasm of the fans and of communities across the country
that brings this game to life and this contest was one way that we could do
something for those fans. It's a coincidence that both winners turned out to
be from Saskatchewan, but it worked out well to give these fans a chance to
cheer on their team's quest for Canadian football's most prized possession in
person."
The "Take Possession" contest was an online chance to win a pair of
tickets to the Grey Cup(R), and roundtrip airfare for two, three nights'
accommodation, and some amazing CFL(R) prizes. There were 10 additional
merchandise prize packs awarded including an official CFL(R) Wilson Football,
Reebok jersey and Reebok hat. Canadians were able to enter online or by
texting "TAKE" to short code 726842 (SCOTIA) during the contest period. The
winning fans were drawn at random from the entries received.
Earlier this year, Scotiabank announced a renewed three year contract
with the CFL, making it the Official Bank of the CFL and the Grey Cup.
Scotiabank also renewed partnerships with the BC Lions, Calgary Stampeders and
Hamilton Tiger-Cats, and became the Official Bank of the Edmonton Eskimos,
Saskatchewan Roughriders, and the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.
"Scotiabank has a great partnership with the CFL and the Saskatchewan
Roughriders," said Colleen Bessel, District Vice-President, Saskatchewan
South. "Many of our customers and employees in the area are fans that we see
on a regular basis at Roughrider games. It is truly a pleasure to be able to
reward a couple of fans with trips to the ultimate Canadian football game."
Scotiabank's sponsorship of the Grey Cup includes:

    - The Taking It Over The Top VIP lounge at the Metro Toronto Convention
Centre overlooking Canadian artists in concert including Great Big
        Sea, Hedley and Loverboy.
    - Scotiabank is also proud to present the Scotiabank Gala, hosted by
TSN's Brian Williams. The event features comedian Brett Butt and a
        performance by Blue Rodeo.
    - On game day, a free event open to the general public, the Scotiabank
Cross Canada Tailgate Party on Bremner Street will feature a
performance by Kim Mitchell and will include a licensed area, food
and beverage, and a family and kids zone.
